Founded by Olivia Leparo and Sarah Elchynski, Avocalypse is the University of Cincinnati’s first all-female identifying and non-binary competitive A Capella group. The group was founded in 2017 with a simple goal in mind, to empower people with powerful voices. The group strives to create opportunities for their members to come together and feel empowered doing the things that they love, singing and making music. They have performed in a variety of regional showcases, events, and art expositions on campus and in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Avocalypse has competed in ICCAs since 2018. For the first time in group history, they were named 2022 ICCA Semi-Finalists, Quarterfinalists, won best arrangement in their Quarterfinal, and got to compete at Semi-finals in St. Louis. The group specializes in pop and rock, with a hint of jazz and R&B flare to their selections.
